13 @ 13
We welcome WBT students to participate in our 13 @ 13 program, an opportunity for our B'nei Mitzvah students to earn a golden kippah. A B'nei Mitzvah is not a one-time event. You don't have a B'nei Mitzvah; you become a B'nei Mitzvah. The literal meaning of the Hebrew word mitzvah is commandment, and B'nei Mitzvah are children of the commandments. In order to fully understand the power of mitzvot, often thought of as good deeds, and of being a responsible Jewish adult, students are asked to experience at least 13 different mitzvot, and then write a reflection on their experiences.
The world stands upon three things - upon Torah, upon divine service, and upon acts of kindness. (Pirke Avot 1:2)
